Prerequisites:
Do you know your basic vocabulary, how to introduce yourself, colors, greetings, numbers to 1,000, and days of the week? Then this is a great place to pick up!
Class Description:
Emphasis is on communicating in Spanish through speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students also study Latin American and/or Spanish culture and geography, and some history. Students will participate in individual, paired, group and class activities as well as complete written and oral exercises to practice new vocabulary. Students will also write stories in Spanish and practice speaking and listening proficiency throughout the year. Understand the cultures of the Spanish-speaking countries.
Goals and Expectations of curriculum:
• Introduce numbers up to 100,000 and prime numbers.
• Introduce weather related vocabulary.
• Introduce new commands and introduce commands related to movements.
• Introduce and review essential language structures needed for communication including there is/are, has, wants, goes to, says, likes, and asks for.
• Introduce language structures and vocabulary related to clothing and getting dressed.
• Discuss dress codes in Spanish speaking countries.
• Introduce language structures and vocabulary related to health issues in order to be able to communicate with a doctor.
• Discuss health protocol in Spanish speaking countries
Requirements:
I only ask that students always give their best faith effort and have a positive attitude in class! No student will ever be punished or penalized for not pronouncing a word or for a misspelling. Learning a language is hard work but very rewarding! I just ask for 100% from all my students!
