We utilize a student-friendly Science and Social Studies curriculum, Science Weekly and Studies Weekly. Science Weekly is fully aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), is hands-on with open-and-go lessons, and is driven by guiding questions that push students to explore.
Studies weekly is organized thematically to the strands of civics and government, geography, economics, and history. This, along with teacher picked additions, allow for an engaging and exciting class. Science Weekly and Studies weekly are both in periodical format and provide a robust learning platform.
Both are hands-on and interactive, spiraled and scaffolded, integrates ELA within the lessons, is standards-aligned, and research-based.
Our classes are kept small in order to provide the individual attention each student needs and blended grades allow for more leveled groups within the class. We are able to reach those that need more assistance as well as those that require a bit more challenge.
**You do not have to attend any other class(es) at Oku in order to take this class.
