Our dance program is about discovering the potential of movement we each have. We will learn to express ideas visually and to interpret music through dance. We will focus on traditional Jazz dance technique using a method developed in the United States by Luigi, and we will explore styles made famous by Bob Fosse (fun and quirky), Jerome Robbins (long, elegant lines), Twyla Tharp (kinetic and unexpected), and more current hip-hop influenced styles.
Learning to dance and improving technique is physically and emotionally rewarding. The endorphins released while dancing are beneficial to mood and self-esteem and open the mind to further learning and positive experience through the day.
*If you are an experienced dancer in 3rd or 4th grade with at least three years of studio experience, please feel free to join this class.
